Free selling is real — but only for UK and German private sellers

Since eBay’s October 2024 fee change, UK private sellers pay no final value fee, no per-order fee and no regulatory operating fee — selling on eBay.co.uk is free (Motors: Cars, Motorcycles & Vehicles excepted). Germany went first: ebay.de private sellers residing in the EEA have paid no Verkaufsprovision since March 2023. The catch: fees still exist for high listing volumes (above 300/320 free listings a month), optional upgrades, Promoted Listings / Anzeigen, and delivery abroad (3% UK / 5% DE international fee).

Irish private sellers are the exception — ebay.ie keeps an 11% final value fee (2% above €1,990), a per-order fee and a 0.43% regulatory operating fee. Business sellers pay category-tiered rates everywhere: the UK and German business profiles sit in the tables below, computed at one representative tier each (UK modal 10.9%; DE 12% up to €990 then 3% — the full official charts ship in the schedule’s tier data).

Selling from United States — every fee line

Final value fee (12.7% · store)$6.35

eBay’s percentage cut of the total sale amount — item price plus the shipping you charge. One representative tier is computed per seller profile: US “most categories” 13.6%, UK business modal 10.9%, DE business 12% up to €990 then 3%, IE private 11% up to €1,990 then 2%. UK and DE private sellers pay no final value fee at all, so their tables have no such line.

Per-order fee$0.40

A fixed charge on every order, tiered by order total: US $0.30 up to $10.00 ($0.40 above) · UK business £0.30/£0.40 at £10 · DE business €0.35/€0.45 at €10 · IE private €0.05 below €10, €0.35 at €10 or more. Payment processing is bundled into the final value fee (managed payments), so there is no separate processing line.

Promoted Listings (15% ad rate)$7.50

Only applies when the sale came through a Promoted Listings / Anzeigen click — the fee is your own seller-set ad rate times the total sale amount. Not documented for private sellers on ebay.ie, so the Irish table omits it.

All platform fees together$14.25

Amounts are a worked example — $45.00 item + $5.00 shipping charged, every optional fee switched on (ad-attributed sale at the standard tier) — so each line shows real money. Your numbers differ: run them in the calculator.
